Abstract

A novel low-cost transceiving mixer with excellent 1/f-noise properties for millimetre wave automotive radar systems at 76.5 GHz has been designed and fabricated. For good AM-noise suppression we use a single balanced mixer. We chose silicon Schottky diodes as non-linear elements to achieve the desired 1/f-noise behaviour. The nput signal with a power of 7 dBm serves as both as LO-signal of the mixer and as transmitter signal. The mixer shows a low conversion loss of 9 dB and an output power of 3 dBm at the antenna port.
