Abstract

The following article outlines the development of the German Geodetic Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BAdW) since its creation in 1952. The authors explain the tasks and goals of the Commission as well as the German Geodetic Research Institute (DGFI) which is attached to the DGKand the structural development in context with the impetuous progress on the whole field of geodesy within the last six decades. This impact is in particular apparent in the international co-operation and increasing variety of geodetic disciplines. The chances for the near future concerning further structural changes by the planned intensive integration of DGK and DGFI into the BAdW are described.
