Abstract
Agricultural engineering within VDI has been founded 1958 as a small section but could be developed to a VDI Society in 1989 due to permanently improved member benefits. The merger with the "Max Eyth Gesellschaft für Agrartechnik" formed 1995 the new "Max-Eyth-Gesellschaft Agrartechnik im VDI" (VDI-MEG) with again increased member benefits and numbers - today above 1500. The paper reviews important mile stones and success factors.
