Abstract
Nineteen patients with postoperative global respiratory insufficiency received high-frequency jet ventilation via a nasotracheal tube over a period of 8 months. Seventeen patients were withdrawn from the respirator successfully. We see the advantages of jet ventilation as the prevention of pressure sores from tubes while bypassing tracheostomies and in the shortening of the postoperative weaning phase.
