Abstract
Listeria monocytogenes and Brochothrix thermosphacta were investigated by the 16S rRNA cataloguing approach in order to determine their phylogenetic relationship. Both species are specifically, although moderately related, forming one of several sublines within the Bacillus-Lactobacillus-Streptococcus cluster of the 'Clostridium' subbranch of Gram-positive eubacteria.
