Abstract

In cases of complete biliary atresia, bile is drained from the liver in the hepatic lymph at the porta hepatis. The method of lympho-digestive bile drainage takes advantage of this fact. The peritoneum is removed at the porta hepatis and the hepato-duodenalligament, and both are connected with a jejunal segment from which the peritoneum has been removed in the same way. The lymphatics of the two structures will then form an anastomosis, and in the intestinal wall bile can be transported into the intestinal lumen. The principles of a surgical operation are demonstrated and the results of clinical treatment pointed out.
