Abstract

We present a monolithically integrated, individually addressable 2D VCSEL array of five lasers which can be coupled into the core of a multi-mode fiber. This device, emitting at 1.55 μm with a per-channel modulation bandwidth in excess of 10 GHz, is especially designed for optical multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) data transmission.
