Abstract

An operated single mode fiber based 750 km WDM link from 2.5 to 10 Gbit/s/channel is upgraded. Decisive for this achievement is the link design combined with the control of the dispersion at the end points and the transmitter chirp. This shows the flexibility 10 Gbit/s TDM technology in terms of transmission distance, dispersion compensation and interoperability with existing technology as a tool for carriers to upgrade the capacity of their infrastructure.
