N2 - The oxidation of tricarbonylchromium complexes of the bithiophene series (1-4) has been investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry, employing liquid sulfur dioxide/[N(n-C4H9)2][PF6] as the electrolyte. The results show that the organochromium heterocycles 1-4 can be reversibly oxidized at ca. +0.6 V to yield the monocations. Further oxidation to the dications, however, only results in irreversible decomposition of these metal heterocycles.
