Abstract

daptation of the operating time interval verification of Ril 805. The operating time interval verification of the Ril 805 based on fracture mechanics concepts is used to determine safe operating time intervals for existing riveted railway bridge structures. Currently it is under revision and adapted to the current state of the load models defined by the Eurocode. For a practical application tonnage factors are provided, which consider the influences of crack model, material, load and utilization in the stress analysis. In this article the basics of the fracture mechanical concept and the procedure for the determination of the tonnage factor are explained. The underlying material parameters, load-time sequences and crack propagation calculations are also discussed and the influence of various parameters is examined. After the presentation of the resulting verification concept (for the determination of safe operating time intervals) the application is finally demonstrated with the help of an example.
