Abstract
Results of a study on the differences in assorted logs between an uneven-aged and an even-aged management unit are reported. They are recorded for a period of 31 years through the book keeping system of the Kreuzberg Municipal Forest (located in the "Innerer Bayerischer Wald", Germany). Furthermore, aspects on the value development of individual trees are presented based on a sample of 41 trees. A significantly lower Cut of small logs combined with a higher cut of big logs leads to an average cubic meter from uneven-aged management achieving a calculated net income of about 134% compared to one under even-aged management. The relative value increment decreases with increasing tree-dbh. However, due to the variation in diameter increment value increment also varied greatly. The impact of a change in value relation between assorted logs fixed in the Grading Scheme for Trade Classes on Roundwood (Handelsklassen für Rohholz) is shown to be of rather small relevance to the relative value increment of large-dimension-trees.
