Description
This PhD project examines urban drought whole-tree responses in the city of Munich to create an intelligent irrigation system.
Specifically:
What – What is the critical point in which drought stress becomes too great of a stress that the plants cannot recover without major dieback? E.g., determining the water potential at the turgor loss point.
When – When exactly is this critical point being reached? E.g., modelling leaf water potential from real-time dendrometer data.
How – How can we combat this critical point and maintain whole-tree water status above this critical stress point? E.g., irrigation techniques.
