Description
One of the most important issues of our time is the disturbed relationship between humans and nature and the resulting global threat to the ecological balance. Our society is still looking for a technological solution to a crisis created by the same technology. The realisation that the environmental crisis is caused by humans, who are not only a ‘factor’ predicted by rational means and researched by science, but also a being that often perceives and acts intuitively through its senses, is now gaining acceptance.
It is slowly being recognised that scientific objectivity in the field of research is of little use to us in stopping the causes of the increasing destruction of our environment as long as we do not make an effort to understand that research findings can also be experienced and viewed subjectively. Finally, the question arises as to whether overcoming ecological and social crises is primarily a question of human behaviour. In recent years, this realisation has led to discussions about an appropriate formal language in public space. A contemporary language would not only allow a broader public discussion about a changed perception of landscape and nature, but also sensitise our perceptive faculties, which are increasingly in danger of being stunted by the mass media.
