Evidence-based Advancement of Teaching AI in K-12: An Action Research Approach

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

Artificial intelligence has become an integral part of our everyday lives. We use AI systems, such as face recognition or Tools, to generate content almost daily. In order to enable students to use and design AI systems responsibly and creatively, AI must be integrated into K-12 computer science curricula as a learning subject.

In recent years, a large number of teaching materials have been developed and tested for this purpose. However, there is still a lack of empirical findings on the design of AI lessons. In particular, systematic research on teaching and learning processes is lacking.

The objective of the research project is to address this gap through the participatory approach of action research in collaboration with teachers. The project aims to advance teaching on an empirical basis and simultaneously constitute theories about teaching and learning processes in the context of AI education.
