Scientific Career

The major focus of Professor von Eisenhart-Rothe (b. 1971) is on regenerative medicine/­osteo­arthritis research, osteo-oncology and joint replacement surgery. The methods used include imaging, virtual planning, navigation, cell and health care research. Within the field of joint replacement surgery his current focus is on the functionalization of surfaces and implant associated infections, within the field of osteoarthritis research it is on the analysis of the effects of different stimuli on the joint cartilage in the bioreactor, and within the field of sarcoma research it is on the virtual planning and navigation, psycho-oncology and the biological reconstruction of musculoskeletal disorders. Professor von Eisenhart-Rothe studied medicine at LMU Munich and completed a distance education program in business administration at the University of Hagen. In 2006 he acquired his postdoctoral teaching qualification in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Friedrichsheim University Hospital in Frankfurt. In 2009 he was appointed senior physician in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Orthopedics at Klinikum rechts der Isar. Since 2012 he has been head of the Department of Orthopedics at TUM and is director of the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Orthopedics at Klinikum rechts der Isar.
