Scientific Career

Prof. Kruhl's research foci are structures of geomaterials from macro to micro, hydrothermal systems and deformation processes in crystallizing magma. He performs projects in geotourism (transfer of science to the public) and investigations on 'sound-rock music'.

Prof. Kruhl studied geology at the University of Hamburg, received his doctoral degree from University of Bonn, his habilitation from University of Mainz and held appointments in research and teaching at universities in Mainz, Salzburg, Berlin and Frankfurt/M. 1996 Prof. Kruhl was appointed to the professorship for geology at TUM, which he hold till his retirement in 2014. He was visiting professor at universities in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Italy, Jordan, and Nepal and is an alumnus of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
