Abstract

Sustainable network planning requires detailed knowledge of future loads and therefore the charging behaviour of electric vehicles. Especially in urban areas with limited parking space, public charging stations will ensure access to charging infrastructure. In this paper, the charging behaviour at public charging stations in respect of temporal and location-based dependencies is examined. The database consists of the backend data gathered from a charging station information system and power measurement data, that are dominated by 22 kW AC charging terminals. Load profiles for typical days of the week and characteristic land uses are created for public AC charging stations and partially significant differences can be detected. The application of these load profiles is suitable for examinations at a larger number of charging stations, with regard to estimations in medium and high voltage grids. Furthermore, the interim results, e.g. distribution of plug in events, can provide input data for stochastic models at low voltage level.
