Abstract

A monitoring system consisting of several innovative measuring systems, such as TDR, low-cost GNSS (GPS) and a video-tacheometer, for the surveillance of surface and subsurface deformations has been installed in course of the alpEWAS project at the Aggenalm landslide, situated in the Bavarian Alps. Data collected throughout three years, has allowed different analysis techniques, such as time series analysis, and has allowed verification and refinement of the geomechanical model of the landslide thus contributing to a better understanding of the landslide’s triggers. Based on prior events at the Aggenalm landslide, one of the major influencing factors on the movement is precipitation. Time series analyses were carried out to determine the relations between precipitation, pore water pressure and deformation. The delay between precipitation and pore water pressure rise was calculated to be 2–3 days, while no significant correlation with deformation could be made.
