Stent Implantation in Patients with Pulmonary Arterial Stenosis

Pulmonary arterial stenting is the most effective catheter interventional mode of therapy to treat pulmonary arterial stenosis. Depending on the size, age, and the vessel size of the patient, stents dilatable to adult size diameter pulmonary arteries should be implanted. If small stents are used which are not addressed at subsequent surgical procedures by removal or longitudinal opening, these stents should be cracked (opened) to reach normal pulmonary arterial dimensions later on.
