Abstract

Computer vision seems a promising method for realizing the most important sensor tasks on a forklift with just one technology, hence significantly reducing integration costs on the forklift and with the IT-system in the background. This approach is highly flexible and easy to retrofit - additional features can be integrated by adding/changing software components. However suppliers of those sensor solutions, which are currently available, are mostly small or medium enterprises (SME) with little or no know-how in the field of computer vision. We have developed a software framework to enable and assist these companies with the design of such systems for logistics transport systems.
