Abstract

Renewable energies have experienced a large growth in the past years. The increasing demand on renewable energy sources, requires more efficient converting and energy storage systems. The multilevel inverter shows in comparison to 2-level inverter topologies higher efficiency and the control of this inverter offers several advantages. Thus, a Space Vector Modulation scheme for a 17-level Cascaded H-Bridge inverter has been studied in detail, simulated in Simulink using the Simscape Power Systems toolbox, and within this paper presented. Finally, on the merits of simulation results, a comparison between Space Vector Modulation and Level Shifted Phase Disposition Pulse Width Modulation is given.
