Abstract
This report describes a simplified procedure to calculate the stress and strain of thin conical shells with a certain flexural stiffness. Based on an analytical solution of the system of differential equations, describing stresses and deformations in a conical shell, a relatively simple computer-program was made. It allows to determine the necessary wall thickness (near the rigid flange-shell fixing) according to a chosen factor of safety and to given strength properties of material.
