Abstract

Corrosion detection is one of the most basic inspection tasks during condition assessment of chloride exposed reinforced concrete structures. The common standard corrosion detection method is the halfcell potential measurement. For implementing the half-cell potential measurement data in the probabilistic service life prediction the knowledge about its inspection accuracy is essential. The statistical parameter of quantifying the accuracy of qualitative test methods is the Probability of Detection usually expressed as a function of defect size. One of the probabilistic methods for analyzing POD-curves is called “hit/miss” model where the inspection results are recorded in terms whether the defect is detected or not. In this research the Probability of Detection of half-cell potential measurement is analyzed based on numerical models with the focus on the impact of the half-cell potential evaluation method.
