Abstract

Presently, the tolerance of electrical components against transient processes within automotive power systems is gaining importance. To enable both electrified and automated driving, the amount of power electronic systems and sensitive electronics such as sensors is increasing. System-inherent disturbances threaten the reliable power supply and can cause malfunctions, failures or even destruction of safety-relevant electrical components such as brake or steering. In this paper, a methodology is developed to model and analyse automotive power systems in time and frequency domain. The focus of this contribution lies in the systematic comparison of uncontrolled and controlled power supplies. Reducing and optimising of transient disturbances through adjusting component integrated input circuitries is investigated. Simulation results show an exemplary reduction of transient disturbances by up to 25%.
