Abstract

Receptor modeling was conducted to comprehensively characterize the aerosol in the urban atmosphere with respect to size selective chemical composition and various physical aerosol quantities. Special attention is directed to fine and ultrafine particles. The measuring campaign took place in a suburb of Hannover, Germany, in the autumn of 1998. The calculation of source profiles and contributions was accomplished using the program UNMIX. Despite the relative short measuring time, it was possible to identify and quantify three source types. The results show that the calculated source compositions, also considering the physical characteristics as well as the fluctuations in source contributions, are reasonable and in accordance with literature data.
