Abstract
We show theoretically that pump-probe spectroscopy with strong pulses can be employed to effectively amplify weak electronic transitions and to learn about the associated material system dynamics. As an illustration, we discuss the possibility of the detection of weak transitions to discrete vibrational levels in the excited electronic state of the weakly bound He(21S)-Ne dimer.
