Abstract
The authors define, and distinguish between, nature conservation, environmental protection and technological protection of the environment. 'Landscape ecology' is introduced and its objectives set out. The work of the Department of Landscape Ecology at Munich Technological University is described, particularly in nature conservation. -J.W.Cooper
