Abstract
Surgical tricuspid valve replacement is performed in a small number of patients with congenital heart disease, in whom a surgical valve plasty has failed. Usually, in tricuspid position, a biological valve prosthesis is chosen. These bioprosthesis undergo natural degeneration. Percutaneous tricuspid valve implantation (PTVI) is an off-label catheter intervention, which may enhance the life span of a bioprosthesis in tricuspid position and, hence, reduce the total number of heart surgeries in a patient’s life.
