Abstract

Continous control of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) adsorbed on submicron combustion aerosols is still an unsolved problem. A solution might be the Photoelectric Aerosol Sensor (PAS) which has been tested successfully in laboratory experiments to determine PAHs adsorbed on artificially produced carbon particles. The applicability of this sensor as an on line-and in situ-detector for the measurement of PAHs in combustion exhaust gases and the used aerosol characterization techniques are discussed. First results are presented.
