Abstract

We evaluate the neutral pion photoproduction amplitude at threshold to one loop in chiral perturbation theory. Virtual pions generated infrared singularities in the scattering amplitude and modify the familiar low-energy expansion of the electric dipole amplitude E_o+ at next-to-leading order.
