Abstract

Throughout three experimental studies (N = 513) we demonstrate that leader anger displays enhance leaders' perceived coercive, legitimate and reward power, but reduce referent power. Total indirect effects of leader anger via these power bases decrease loyalty and enhance deviance towards the leader, while not contributing to perceived leader effectiveness.
