Abstract
Technical advances of electric, electronic and mechatronic systems allow the realization of new functions in the automotive sector. This can support the reduction of accidents by using driver assisted systems. In the EU SPARC project we show how numerous driver assisted systems are integrated effectively in a drive-by-wire vehicle. Integration of systems having influence on the control functions of a vehicle as e.g. a brake-by-wire system always requires a proof of safety. To perform the safety case it is helpful to use knowledge from the aircraft industry as there exists extensive experiences on this field. A major part of the integration of a brake-by-wire system is done a very early stage of development. This reduces the tasks of the conventional integration.
