Abstract
Radio-frequency Identification using the Ultra High Frequency range is increasingly applied in the field of logistics. In order to benefit from the advantages of this AutoID-Technology a reliable identification of the tagged goods has to be ensured. This is often problematic due to complex interactions between the electromagnetic field of the RFID-Installation and the surrounding environment. Thus supplying the passive tags with energy through the field and hence the identification of the tag can be disturbed. Knowing the spatial distribution of the electromagnetic fields strength can be used as a basis for estimating the reliability of the identification and for deriving a suitable configuration of the installation. In this paper a concept and methods for quickly measuring the distribution of the electromagnetic field is presented.
