Abstract

After oral application of 100 ng of ²⁶Al in 100 μg, of Al as AlCl₃ to two volunteers, ²⁶Al concentrations in blood serum and in urine were measured with accelerator mass spectrometry. Altogether 44 samples were measured in a time period of 23 days after application of ²⁶Al. The measured data were described by an open four-compartment model. Aluminum resorption factors and rate constants for resorption, elimination and exchange between the compartments were obtained. The deduced resorption factors are in the range of 10^-3.
