Abstract
A computer language named LIBAFORM which can be used for symbolic manipulation of mathematical formulas is presented. The LIBAFORM statements are processed by a system of LISP routines. The syntax closely resembles the common mathematical notation, and a knowledge of LISP is not necessary for using it. The system contains a series of symbol-manipulating built-in functions, user defined functions and infix operators can be added in a simpler manner. With the help of LIBAFORM functions it is possible to generate programs in advanced computer languages, such as FORTRAN, ALGOL, PL/I, and SIMULA.
