Abstract

In this work, the influence of additions of aluminium, phosphorus, silicon and manganese and of the heat treatment on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of low-alloyed TRIP-steels was investigated. The main results can be stated in brief: • Silicon can be substituted as a whole by aluminium. After heat treatment the alloy possesses acceptable mechanical properties. • Substituting silicon partially by aluminium (0.6 %Si and 1 %Al, alloy C) or completely by a combination of aluminium and phosphorus (0.1 %P and 1 %Al, alloy B) significantly increases the retained austenite +R m in the alloys. The product (Equation presented) * Ag is the highest for alloys B and C. g 2 • Reducing manganese from 1.5% to 0.6% (alloy D) dramatically decreases the volume fraction of austenite formed during the intercritical anneals. To obtain optimized mechanical properties the annealing parameters in the bainitic range have to be shifted to lower temperatures and shorter holding times.
