Abstract

In order to achieve international environmental goals and sustain the increasing demand for robust and more efficient powertrains, the design process for electric machines needs to become more realistic and effective in the future. Nowadays, the design of electric machines follows a fixed sequential process and is mainly based on expert knowledge. This leads to a limitation of the solution-space in early steps of the design process and results in efficiency losses and high safety margins. Therefore, a new optimized stator design method for permanent magnet synchronous machines (PSM) using parameter permutation is introduced in this paper and analyzed in regard to a variety of optimization goals.
