Abstract

Procedural models are the basis for most of the modern CAD tools. We will describe the process of procedural modelling by the means of a bipartite graph, from which we derive a so-called acyclic dependency graph. Based on this mathematical model we present a locking mechanism that supports concurrency control in a multi-user modeling environment, which enables different stakeholders to work concurrently on one and the same procedural model. As further application we will leverage the presented locking mechanism within the process of modeling alignment based infrastructure projects. By splitting the comprehensive model in several loosely coupled sub models we enable different users to work independently on those sub models, while the presented locking mechanism ensures consistency of the comprehensive model.
