Abstract
A report of papers presented at the symposium held in Mainz, West Germany in March 1984 is presented. Nonwoven, woven and multi-layer composite geotextiles, and their hydraulic, mechanical, and weathering-resistance properties are described. The role of geotextiles as filters, protective layers, and reinforcing and stabilizing materials in civil engineering applications is examined.
