Abstract
Periarthritis due to calcium deposits is commonly seen in the shoulder joint. In rare cases other joints are affected. This article presents the case of a young man with calcific periarthritis of the elbow because of calcium deposition (calcium hydroxyapatite deposition disease). Symptoms include severe pain, swelling and disability of the elbow joint. Radiological examinations helped to find the correct diagnosis. Calcific periarthritis is usually self-limiting. Conservative management with diclofenac and immobilization is the preferred treatment option.
