title = "Fibre otpic temperature measurements for leakage detection - applications in the reconstruction of dams",
abstract = "The use of distributed fibre optic temperature sensing presents itself for a variety of tasks in the monitoring of structures in dam engineering. Through the exact knowledge of the temperature distribution within the surrounding of sealing elements conclusions about possible seepage flow can be drawn. Under consideration of the existing temperature difference between the reservoir and the dam various measurement techniques could be employed. These techniques have been applied in extensive preliminary tests as well as in successful pilot projects.",
