Still unknown are the dominating effects on the alveolar level and the exact geometry of the alveolar structure itself. We try to fill this gap with our multi-disciplinary research, where on the one hand we are interested in visualization techniques to reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of the alveoli and on the other hand develop a numerical tool to simulate the complex physics at the surfactant enriched liquid-lining layer interface.",
