Abstract

Encoderless Predictive Torque Control is saliency based but obviates the need for signal injection, which enables operation in the complete speed range of the drive: at high speed as well as at permanent standstill under load. This paper finally solves the schemes elementary drawback of requiring machine parameters by introducing an estimation technique for the mean admittance. As a result the scheme can be applied to salient machines without any preliminary identification. Moreover, knowledge of the sampling time and the DC-link voltage measurement becomes obsolete. The stability of the filter interaction is verified and experimental results demonstrate that the dynamics of the parameter free scheme exceed common saliency based approaches.
