The introduction of the directive 2002/44/EG [1] leads to a better protection of employees in agricultural machines. Therefore the legislator fixed limits for the exposure of workers to physical vibrations. In order to control these limits the user has some possibilities of detection. One is a internet calculator, where measured or estimated values have to be filled out. Then the software calculates the maximum time a driver is allowed to drive a machine in a specific operation. Another possibility is a new vibration detector by Grammer. This device determines the real effective vibrations and warns the driver acoustically. The OEM has to provide a highly engineered package of properly tuned suspension systems. The latest Fendt 900 series tractor offers about 48% of improvement regarding the maximum time of operation e.g. in transportation work (comparison between the Fendt 900 Vario and it's predecessor). Also very important for long working days and high quality of operation is an ergonomic installation of frequently used control elements. On Fendt tractors these elements are placed in ergonomic area around the driver.
