N2 - An important benefit of time-domain full wave analysis of 3D electromagnetic structures is the possibility to obtain broadband information about the electromagnetic properties within a single simulation run. In the case of low-loss resonant structures like high quality filters the time-domain computation of impulse responses can become very time consuming due to the typically long duration response. System identification methods can be used to reduce the necessary computation time considerably through estimation of the transfer function's pole positions from a much shorter observation window than it would be required for classical discrete Fourier transform.
