Abstract
The INFRABIM maturity metric – formal assessment of the maturity of BIM pilot projects. The German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) aims at establishing the mandatory usage of Building Information Modeling for all building projects in its range of authority. To prepare this step, a number of pilot projects are being conducted. In order to identify yet existing hurdles and deficits and draw conclusions with respect to the required measures, it is necessary to formally assess the extent and the quality in the usage of BIM achieved in the pilot projects. To this end, the BMVI has installed a scientific counsel which developed a maturity metric which allows to measure the degree of the BIM implementation in a project in very detailed manner, by assigning scores in more than 60 criteria in ten different areas. The article introduces the metric and illustrates its application by means of the first four pilot projects of BMVI.
