Design of Fiber Composite Aerospace Structures Under Vibration Loads

Publikation: Beitrag in Buch/Bericht/KonferenzbandKapitelBegutachtung

Abstract

Correct vibration behavior and attenuation are governing global and also local design criteria for aerospace structures and components. Related simulation and design methods are discussed, including also specific aspects arising for carbon fiber composite structures. For example, influencing vibration shapes by correct tailoring the fiber reinforcement helps to modify the dynamic pressure variation around the wing such that a reduction of bending moments acting on the wing is achieved. These and other aspects are substantiated by a discussion of several design cases of different aerospace structures. This is amended by a view on design optimization methods and on smart fiber composite structures used, for example, for active vibration damping. Fiber composites allow relatively easy integration of smart materials for sensing and also for influencing the structural behavior. Finally, vibration testing and analysis-test correlations are addressed.
