The NSR provides a standard mechanism for measurement and access to status information in clusters of heterogeneous workstations. It can be used by any application that relies on static and dynamic information about this execution environment. A key feature of NSR is its flexibility with respect to the measurement requirements of various applications. Configurability aims at reducing the measurement overhead and the influence on the observed cluster.",
