N2 - The aim of this study is to investigate the use of competency management in the context of digitalization and automation in automotive logistics. In addition, specific technologies and areas shall be identified where extensive changes in competency requirements for employees can be expected. Competency management and requirements for digitalization in automotive logistics are investigated from the perspective of experts from various companies and specialist departments. The paper provides information about the perceived and utilized applications of competency management and about the extent of competency changes due to the respective use of technology in various areas of logistics. The study with 140 participants reveals that competency management is becoming increasingly important in the context of digitalization and automation, and that a comprehensive and detailed application is required in logistics. The survey indicates that there is a need for a systematic determination of future competencies in logistics to adequately qualify employees for changing work content.
