Abstract
Staging in pancreatic carcinoma is very difficult especially in the osymptomatic early stoges. A variety of examinations are necessary to commit operability. Non-invasive imaging methods were developed in the last recent years to improve the diagnostic work-up. Transabdominal ultrasound and computed tomography ore cornerstones in the staging of pancreatic carcinoma. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography as an invasive imaging method is o cornerstone in the diagnostic work-up as well as in the therapy of pancreatic carcinoma. Endoscopic ultrasonography was developed in the last recent years and is the best method for the local staging. Angiography has lost of importance especially by the development of magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance cholangiapancreaticography. Positron emission tomography is the method which developed most in the last recent yeors, however, it is still no established method.
